Finaref’s student network: an open-ended contract in their sights
Thirteen students joined Finaref’s partner stores back in April 2006 for a six-month internship. One year on, the outcome is positive.
The students, most of them business school graduates, were recruited to strengthen Finaref"s presence at three of its partner stores : La Redoute, Printemps and Club Med. “Our goal was to get them quickly to the point where they could work independently and handle local needs for training and coordination,” says project manager Marylène Gougelot. The interns took up their posts after a week of situational training in Lille and received support in the field for their first two weeks from a senior manager.
Everyone involved in setting up the network was delighted with how well the recruits fitted in. “This was true of both our partners and Finaref’s sales managers, who didn’t hesitate to delegate tasks,” remarks Ms Gougelot. As for the recruits, most of those who decided not to resume their studies found a job after the internship was over. Several of them were even offered open-ended contracts by Finaref.
Finaref decided to use the same arrangement this year, and 16 new students were brought on board in March 2007. “Seeing the quality of the training the first round of interns received, their schools continue to send us their best,” concludes Gougelot.
